Anxiety stems from instinctive fight and flight response, which is controlled by the subconscious part of the mind. When we sense danger our senses send signals to the brain and subconscious perceives the danger relaying signals down the spinal cord to the kidneys where the adrenal glands instruct the body to produce chemicals such as adrenalin to fuel the body via the blood stream. Feeding all the major muscles for the fight, flight or freeze response. Anxiety is actually very normal; if we did not have this protective system then life would be very dangerous.
Physical effects of anxiety
The fight or fight response mechanism is helpful but the anxiety is not helpful, as the subconscious mind cannot distinguish the difference between real and imagined so reacts as if the experience is real even when imagined.
Most anxieties, fears, phobias, panic attacks are dealt with in 1-3 sessions.
